Canadian Condominium Institute Northwestern Ontario Chapter

The Annual General Meeting of CCI Northwestern Ontario Chapter will be held:

Location: Mural Room of the Masonic Temple, 1600 Dease Street, Thunder Bay, Ontario

In accordance with Section 3.02 of By-law 1 (one) which states taht any member who wishes to run for a Board position can do so by advising the office of the local Chapter in writing of their intent to do so no later than 12 noon Friday, February 25, 2011.

This year there are two (2) positions up for election (three (3) year term) to the Board of Directors.

From time to time, corporations need to repair or replace major components of the common elements. Financing of such large projects is an important matter. This seminar addresses financing from the prospective of the Condominium Act, external financiers and managers aspects.

This course will earn RECO or RIBO attendees MCE credits for 3 hours of instruction. RECO and RIBO attendees will need to provide their Registration Number, check in & out to comply with requirements.

CONDOMINIUM COURSE - LEVEL 200

Date: Saturday, January 16, 2010 - SESSION III
Time: 8:45 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Registration: 8:30 a.m.

Enrollment Fees: Fees: Session III
$40.00 for members with course materials
$80.00 for non-members with course materials
$25.00 for couse materials

If you did not attend Sessions I &/or II, it is recommended but not required that you preapre for Session III by reading chapters 1 to 12 in the binder (however, there will be a very brief review of Sessions I & II covering chapters 1 through 12.) This is an excellent way for Board members to demonstrate their due diligence and will provide you with an understanding of Reserve Funds, Investments, Audits, and Taxes.

LEGAL CASES

Two lawyers who have dealt with a number of condominium cases and a knowledgeable insurance adjuster will provide a panel discussion. They will also review decisions of the Courts and issues that have arisen in their practices dealing with topics of interest to condo unit owners, Condomium Corporations and the purchser of condominium units. There will be plenty of time for questions and answers after the panel presentation.

The seminar is to give directors, managers and owenrs insight into legal matters faced by other Condominium Corporations, and the reason why the case was won or lost. This is essential information for everyone that owns a condo.

LEVEL 100 - THE CONDOMINIUM COURSE

Date: Saturday, October 25, 2008
Time: 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
Registration: 8:30 a.m.
Location: The Port Arthur Ukrainian Prosvita Society, Thunder Bay
Enrollment Fees: CCI Members: $60 for each participant (includes GST)
Non-members: $125 for each partaicipant (includes GST)
Fees include course binder as well as coffee and snacks

The day will be broken up into three sessions, approximately one hour each, with a short break between each session.

Part 1. The Condominium Act 1998, Declaration, By-Laws, Rules and Regulations
Part 2. Insurance and Financial
Part 3. Reserve Fund Study

The course is an excellent way for unit owners to understand their responsibilities and for Directors to demonstrate their due diligence while serving on the Board.

This course will provide you with an understanding of what a condominium is and what it means to live in one. Essential information for anyone interested in purchasing or selling a condominium.

ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING
