ACCI (Associate of the Canadian Condominium Institute)
Eligibility Requirements
To become eligible, a Professional Member of CCI must have the following:
a) Experience Criteria:
Two years professional membership in CCI.
Three years professional condominium experience.
Must have taken the local CCI Chapter's Directors Course(s).
Experience in teaching or attending courses, and/or writing articles, or any combination thereof - all of which must be related to the realm of condominium, be approved by the local Chapter, and then submitted to the National Board of Directors for approval.
Outstanding achievement in a condominium field and/or education, non-related background
Names and addresses of two CCI members, unrelated to the applicant, who are well known to the applicant.
Others may be considered in extraordinary circumstances at the discretion of the National CCI Board
b) Professional Criteria:
Condominium Management (CM) - must have five years property management experience, of which three years must be in condominium management.
Law - must be a member of the applicable provincial law society.
Engineering (P.Eng) - must have the Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) Designation and be a member of the applicable provincial association.
Accounting (Acct) - must have one of the following accounting designations: Chartered Accountant (CA), Certified Professional Accountant (CPA), Certified General Accountant (CGA), or Certified Management Accountant (CMA), and be a member of the applicable society or association.
Real Estate (RE) - must have a real estate licence from the applicable provincial licencing body
Insurance (Ins.) - must have a licence
Appraisers (Appr.) - must be a member of the applicable provincial licensing body.
Architects (Arch.) - must be a member of the applicable provincial licensing body.
Certified Engineering Technologists (CET) - must be a member of the applicable provincial licensing body.
Land Surveyors (LS) - must be a member of the applicable provincial licensing body.
Reserve Fund Study Provider (RFSP) - must be authorized by the provincial legislation having jurisdiction to provide Reserve Fund Studies. [Must have five years experience, of which three years is as the designated professional overseeing the signing of reserve fund studies provided to condominiums.]
Alternate Dispute Resolution (ADR) - must have formal certification, 5 years experience to include 3 years condominium experience and must be member of a provincial or federal arbitration committee.
N.B. For Appraisers, Architects, Certified Engineering Technologists and Land Surveyors, exams are in the development state.
c) Ethical Criteria:
Pledge to abide by the CCI Code of Ethics for Professional Members.
d) Continuing Education Criteria:
An ACCI member seeking renewal of the ACCI status is required to declare that he/she has completed a minimum of 18 hours of continuing education every two years by way of:
Attending courses, seminars, or conferences related to condominium or their profession;
Writing articles or instructing or speaking at courses, seminars, or conferences in condominium or their profession;
Actively participating in the CCI Chapter or National body, which involves use of her/her professional skills, such as writing articles for the newsletter, or answering information line calls;
Actively serving on the Chapter or National Board;
Actively serving on a Chapter or National Committee.
